ある (a certain)

The pre-noun adjective (連体詞) ある meaning 'a certain' or 'some (particular)' — ある日 ('one day'), ある人 ('a certain person'), ある時 ('at one time'). Always directly precedes a noun and cannot be used predicatively. Distinct from the existential verb ある 'to exist / to have.'
