合わせる (match, set, tune)

The transitive verb 合わせる ('to match, fit, adjust, set'), pairing with many domains: 時計を合わせる ('set the clock'), チャンネルを合わせる ('tune to a channel'), 顔を合わせる ('meet face to face'), 力を合わせる ('join forces'). The intransitive counterpart is 合う.
