~べからず (classical prohibition)

The classical negative imperative ~べからず, from べき (should) + あらず (not be), meaning 'one must not / thou shalt not / shall not X.' Very formal and literary — appears on signs (立入るべからず = 'no entry'), rules, and in elevated prose. Not used in casual speech.
