The pattern noun (or na-adjective) + でもある, predicating an additional quality on a topic: 小説家でもある ('is also a novelist'), 勇敢でもある ('is also brave'). Built from copula で + も ('also'). でもある is more formal than でもいる; pairs with ~だけでなく for 'not only X but also Y' constructions. Distinct from the concessive でも ('even, but').
