どうしても (no matter what / no matter how)

The adverb どうしても has two main uses: (1) with a negative predicate, 'no matter how (one tries), cannot' (どうしても信じられない 'I just can't believe it no matter what'); (2) with an affirmative predicate, 'no matter what, by all means, absolutely' (どうしても行きたい 'I really want to go no matter what').
