が → の in noun-modifying clause

In a noun-modifying (relative) clause, the subject can be marked with の instead of が. Example: 背の高い人 / 背が高い人 ('a tall person'); 私の作った料理 / 私が作った料理 ('the dish I made'). The の form is felt as slightly more compact or written.
