Hawaii is one of the most popular overseas destinations for Japanese travelers — long historical ties through pre-WWII Japanese immigration, postwar tourism, sister-state relationships, and a shared Pacific time-zone-proximity. Often jokingly called 'Japan's southernmost island.'
