ほしがる (third-person want)

The third-person desire verb ほしがる, formed from ほしい + ~がる ('show signs of'). Used because Japanese grammar treats other people's inner states as inferable only from outward behavior. Takes を for what is wanted, unlike first-person ほしい which takes が.
