言って聞かない (insist on, won't be talked out of)

A fixed pattern [clause]+と言って聞かない (also 言ってきかない in kana), literally '[X], saying that, doesn't listen,' meaning 'to insist on X stubbornly, to refuse to be talked out of X, to keep insisting.' 聞く here is in its 'heed, listen to' sense. Common in describing children, headstrong adults, or anyone who has dug in their heels.
