自己紹介 (self-introduction)

The ritualized self-introduction, expected on first meetings in Japan — at schools, workplaces, clubs, hobby groups. Typically a short formula covering name, affiliation, sometimes hobbies or hometown, and a closing よろしくお願いします. Considered a basic social skill and often practiced explicitly.
