花粉症 (hay fever)

Japan has an exceptionally high rate of 花粉症 ('pollen allergy / hay fever'), caused primarily by cedar and cypress pollen from vast postwar-planted forests. Annual pollen seasons are national concerns, with widespread mask-wearing and medication use.
