かき~ (vigorous action prefix)

The verbal prefix かき, attached to verbs to add a sense of vigorous, sweeping, or thorough action: かき混ぜる ('stir up'), かき乱す ('disturb'), かき消す ('drown out'). Originally from かく ('scratch / scoop'); now mostly grammaticalized.
