~機 (machine/device suffix)

The Sino-Japanese suffix ~機 (き), attached to a noun or activity to name a machine or device for that activity: 洗濯機 ('washing machine'), 掃除機 ('vacuum cleaner'), 飛行機 ('airplane'), 自動販売機 ('vending machine'). Productive in coining names for new machines.
