ましてや (let alone, even more so)

The emphatic form of まして ('let alone'), arguing from greater to lesser or from one given proposition to a stronger one. 'If even X is true, then surely Y is true'. Often paired with ~は (contrastive) and a closing 言うまでもない or 当然だ.
