~んだが (explanation + trailing が)

The sentence-ending combination ~んだが — explanatory ~んだ + trailing contrastive が. Sets up a request, offer, or question by first presenting context: '[clause]んだが…' = 'there's this, but… (what do you think?)'. Often trails off with a pause or left unresolved.
