に (location target with placement verbs)

The particle に marking the location where something is placed — 机に置く ('put on the desk'), 棚に並べる ('arrange on the shelf'), 壁に貼る ('stick on the wall'). With placement verbs the location is treated as a destination, not a static where-it-is.
