~に基づいて/基づき (based on)

The formal compound conjunction ~に基づいて (or ~に基づき in more formal writing), 'based on, founded on, on the basis of.' The te-form / 連用形 of 基づく ('to be based on'). Common in academic, legal, and journalistic prose. Examples: 観察に基づいて ('based on observation'), データに基づき ('based on data'). The dictionary/attributive form ~に基づく modifies a following noun.
