日本の陶磁器 (Japanese ceramics)

Japan has a rich tradition of decorated ceramics — 染付 (blue-and-white porcelain), 九谷焼 (Kutani ware), 有田焼 (Arita ware), 萩焼 (Hagi ware), and many regional styles. Patterns on plates and bowls carry aesthetic and cultural weight; complimenting 模様 ('pattern') on tableware is a culturally tuned remark.
