pronominal の (the one)
grammar4 sentences
The nominalizer の used as a stand-in for an omitted noun — '(the) one' — e.g. 私の ('mine'), 大きいの ('the big one'), 君が買ったの ('the one you bought'), 先程のは ('the one from earlier'). Equivalent to English 'one' in 'the red one' or possessive pronouns. Distinct from の as nominalizer of a clause and from the possessive linker の.
