野口英世 (Noguchi Hideyo)

Noguchi Hideyo (1876–1928), Japanese bacteriologist famous for his research on syphilis and yellow fever. He died of yellow fever while studying the disease in Ghana. Featured on the Japanese ¥1000 bill since 2004.
