及び (and, formal)

The formal conjunction 及び, 'and' / 'as well as,' used to link nouns or noun phrases in official, legal, technical, or bureaucratic writing. Cleaner and more formal than と or や. 東京及び大阪 ('Tokyo and Osaka'). Almost always written in kanji (及び) in formal prose; kana (および) appears occasionally but 及び is standard.
