passive in relative clause

A passive-form verb used inside a relative or noun-modifying clause — e.g. 残された猫 ('the cat that had been left behind'), 言われたこと ('what was said'), 課せられた目標 ('the targets that were imposed'). A structural pattern English handles with 'that is/was X-ed.' Common in literary and journalistic prose.
