~さ (casual assertion)

grammar

12 sentences

The casual sentence-final particle さ used for soft emphasis or conversational assertion — 'I'm telling you / you know / as a matter of fact.' A mild assertive filler common in colloquial speech; gender-neutral but slightly masculine-leaning. Softer than よ but more assertive than a neutral ending. Also appears mid-sentence as in-speech punctuation between clauses. Distinct from the adjective-nominalizer ~さ (attached to adjective stems: 高さ, 速さ).
