The Sino-Japanese prefix 再 ('again, re-') attached to a noun or verb-stem to indicate repetition or resumption: 再会 ('reunion'), 再開 ('resumption'), 再婚 ('remarriage'), 再生 ('regeneration / playback'), 再起 ('comeback').
