mimetic + する

Attaching する (or colloquial やる) to a mimetic word to create a verb describing the state or sound in action — ヒリヒリする ('to sting'), ワクワクする ('to be excited'), イライラする ('to be irritated'), ドキドキする ('heart pound'). One of the most productive mimetic patterns in modern Japanese.
