stacked auxiliaries (~てしまっている)

Japanese aspectual auxiliaries can stack: ~てしまう + ~ている = ~てしまっている, marking 'is in the state that resulted from completely/regrettably doing X.' Stacking lets fine aspectual distinctions surface that English handles with adverbs and tense alone.
