年上/年下 (older/younger)

The compound nouns 年上 (としうえ, 'older,' literally 'year-above') and 年下 (としした, 'younger,' literally 'year-below'), used to express age seniority between people. Combine directly with a number+counter for differences: 三歳年上 ('three years older').
