どすん (heavy thud)

A mimetic for a heavy, dull thud — the sound of something substantial falling, being set down, or hitting the ground with force. どすんと置く = 'to plunk down with a thud.' Conveys weight and sometimes impatience or fatigue. Written in hiragana or katakana (ドシン) depending on the effect desired.
