気をなくす (lose motivation)

A set collocation where 気 ('will, motivation, interest') is the object of なくす ('to lose'). [verb]気をなくす = 'to lose the will to [verb].' Japanese uses 気 pervasively for states of mind — 気がする (feel that), 気を付ける (be careful), 気になる (be bothered by).
