The pattern [noun]+の一つ, meaning 'one of the X.' Picks out a single non-human item from a set or category. The arabic-numeral form (の1つ) and kanji form (の一つ) are equivalent; kanji is more standard in writing. Parallel to ~の(中の)一人 for people.
