object fronting

Pulling a direct object to the front of the clause, before the topic/subject, for emphasis or topicalization — 彼らのマナーをあなたはまだ知らない ('their manners, you still don't know'), 父親の顔を僕は知らない ('my father's face, I don't know'). Japanese default order is SOV; promoting the object yields an OSV order that marks the object as the focal element. A common form of pragmatic word-order shift; broader scrambling of other arguments is its umbrella.
