Japanese bedtime read-alouds (読み聞かせ)

読み聞かせ ('read-alouds') is a well-recognized parenting and educational practice in Japan — reading picture books to children at bedtime or in classrooms. Public libraries and schools often run organized 読み聞かせ sessions.
