ご~ (polite prefix)

The honorific prefix ご~ attached mainly to Sino-Japanese (kango) nouns to add politeness or respect: ご注意, ご連絡, ご両親, ご意見, ご指摘, ご質問, ご家族. The parallel お~ prefix attaches mainly to native Japanese nouns. Both elevate the register; ご typically appears where the item belongs to or is produced by the listener.
