と (and, exhaustive list)

The particle と used to coordinate or enumerate nouns in a closed, exhaustive list — 'X and Y and Z.' Implies a complete list of items: 父と母 ('father and mother'), りんごとみかん ('apples and oranges'), 詩と音楽 ('poetry and music'), 田中さんと佐藤さん ('Tanaka and Satō'). Distinct from や (non-exhaustive 'and / among others'), which leaves room for unlisted items, and from と as quotative or comitative.
