Germany (ドイツ)

Germany — known to Japan since the Meiji period as a model for medicine, philosophy, military reform, and academia. The name ドイツ comes from Dutch Duits rather than English German. German-language study has a long history in Japanese universities, especially in medicine and philosophy.
